Yves Erick Bile was born in Attécoubé, Ivory Coast, in December 2004. As well as being eligible to play for his country of birth, Yves is also eligible to play for Belgium. He arrived in Europe via MSK Zilina, having previously played for the Slovakian club’s African affiliate. In January 2025, he was sold to PFC Ludogorets for a fee of around 700,000 euros.
Physically speaking, Yves is a striker who can thrive in any situation. With a mesomorphic build, the Ivorian stands at 1.81 metres. It is not a staggering height, but his jumping ability allows him to win numerous aerial duels. His execution speed is good, whilst his movement speed is a standout feature of his game: as a strong player, Yves is also explosive and accelerates with ease.
The Ivorian striker is a player who puts his technical ability at the service of his tactical movements. When he has to drop back to support his teammates and put them in a position to face the play, Yves displays a good first touch and an equally high standard of passing: tense, precise, and setting up his teammate’s next move (whether a pass or a carry). In fact, this is so ingrained in his play that his actions usually follow the pattern of starting with a directed first touch. This controlled first touch, when he has space, is also what he uses when finishing: he usually directs the ball to his right foot to position his body between the ball and the opponent and gain enough time to strike the ball powerfully (he prefers to strike the ball with power, but always ensures some placement in his shot). Still in terms of finishing, it’s common to see him moving around inside the box to attack the blind side of the defence: he likes to pop up at the far post. His dribbling is most evident during attacking transitions, that is, in open play and when he has space: he likes to receive the ball facing the open space so that he can accelerate with long strides whilst the ball rolls ahead of him.
Yves Erick Bile’s competitive spirit is evident throughout the match: he never shies away and always seeks to be part of the solution, which demonstrates the confidence with which he approaches the game. Furthermore, he is tough in one-on-one situations and never shies away from them, not least because he knows what he is capable of physically. Defensively, he is a hard-working player: at PFC Ludogorets, he is not asked to apply high, aggressive pressure, but simply to close down passing lanes through the middle and only extend his pressing movements at the right moment – something the Ivorian does with ease. He is never stationary, which highlights his resilience and concentration on the game, as he seeks to anticipate situations in order to succeed.
Yves Erick Bile has great potential — he regularly alternates between very good decisions and some less good ones. However, it seems to me that his move to Bulgaria came at an unfavourable time, given that he was establishing his place at MSK Zilina and left midway through the season for a club where the strikers were better prepared. Being young and not getting regular playing time, he is having his potential held back because he has stopped developing as well as he could. As such, given the presence of Rwan Cruz, Kwadwo Duah and Alberto Salido, I believe a loan spell back at the club that brought him to Europe would be beneficial. I believe that, given his potential and even the form he has already shown, he has what it takes to one day move to Belgium or Austria (countries that capitalise on this type of market) and, in the future, break into the top European leagues.
